I have lower water pressure (about 62 psi) and tested many lower flow, mater amping shower heads. Alsons makes many of these with the big companies putting their names on them. This is the same technology as the Delta 1.6 but cosmetically different. You can find the Peerless in the Wal mart around me.
This head put the most pressure out for the money. Nearly 15-21 psi more than the 2.5 gpm heads!
It does use less water than a 2.5 and gives a pretty decent shower. It will be more than enough to blast soap and conditioner off of your body and hair.
The large hole will make it less likely to clog if you have hard water. The action is more like a side to side shake combined with a pulse so you get body coverage with force.
This is different than what you might be used to since it is not a needle spray but larger drops of water. Some think these mist but I do not see that effect. It does spray different than what most have so takes a few showers to really know if you like this way of presenting water to your body.
It s one draw back is that it might have to much force. I am male and my first thought was it was good but mixed with little stings mixed in. However I do think in a week your body would get used to it.
For the low cost if you are looking to boost pressure and save water, you should try this by going to your local store and seeing if you can find it to try it out.
If you want to spend about $24 you can buy from Amazon the 1.6 version by Alsons with 4 holes that use this technology. Over all it solves all the issues. It will give you wider coverage, and the pressure is divided between all 4 holes. You do get about 10 psi LESS pressure because of the 4 holes so there is no sting. For some reason that one uses a little more water even though they are both 1.6 rated.
If looking for low cost, lower water use, high pressure, this one is hard to beat for the money.

This showerhead is everything I expected. My hotwater is almost 2 min from my upstairs shower and the auto valve works perfect. Installation was easy. The showerhead is perfect with a wide full pattern. The only caveat is that if you are the type who like the shower to knock you down this is not for you. If you like a strong full pattern you will like this head. The price seems fair for the upper end quality. I am buying another.

It didn't shut off like it's supposed to when the water gets hot.We ended up returning it and getting something else.
Things that would have been nice to know before installing:
1) Do not use tools - a hand tightened installation is sufficient -- and tools will overtighten.
2) There is a *tiny* slip of paper in the instructions that says remove the rubber washer in the plumbing pipe. We missed that the first time.
3) The product comes with teflon tape. You don't need to buy a separate roll like we did.

Gallons of water are wasted every time you turn on the shower and wait for the water to heat up, taxing the environment and your pocketbook. Go green by conserving water and save money on your utilities at the same time by using the Macaw Handheld Water Saving Spa Shower. On average, 2.5 gallons of water flows per minute in you shower. At that rate, 1 person showering once a day, wasting only 1 minute of shower water, wastes almost 900 gallons per year, a family of four would waste over 3500 gallons! The built in ShowerStart technology saves hot water by stopping the flow of water that is usually wasted before you actually get in. When you are ready, simply hop in the shower, pull of the valve cord and let the water flow. After each shower the, the valve will automatically reset. While coserveration was in mind with this product, it does not compromise comfort or design. With maximum flow rate allowed by law and 5 different spray settings, you can be sure of a cleansing and relaxing experience each and every time. It will attach to any shower arm with an industry standard 1/2" fitting. Chrome finish, solid brass fittings, ABS body and the spray head is 4" in diameter.
