(More customer reviews)I have the electric tape on a copper plumbing fixture. It is installed in a way that is even more thorough than the instructions suggest. It still did not keep a valve from splitting, and the temperatures were not below 20 for more than a few hours. I may try to use the tape again when I rebuild the copper fixture, but I will be using much more of it, and reinforcing the electric tape with foam insulation.

(More customer reviews)Purchased to use with the water hose on our fifth wheel trailer when we had to spend a period of time in freezing weather, this heat tape not only kept our water supply flowing, it produced enough heat to slightly warm the water. Normally we would have purchased a shorter length for campground use but we were parked a distance from a water supply making a longer heat tape necessary. It worked very well when used with foam insulation tubing and we would consider buying a shorter length for use when staying at campgrounds during short spells of cold snaps.

(More customer reviews)I am using this heat tape to keep a standpipe and spigot from freezing outside the horse barn. It must be laid flat on the pipe as opposed to twisting it around the length of the pipe. For a long running pipe, this is the correct unit, but be sure to order the proper length.

The Easy Heat temperature-controlled cable runs straight along pipe and valves, held in place by application tape and plugs into grounded electrical outlet. The Easy Heat cold weather cable keeps water flowing down to a negative 380 degrees. For odd lengths of pipe over 3/4-inch in diameter, we recommend two separate cables on opposite sides of the pipe with up to 3-feet of overrun at center of pipe run. Metal pipe requires 1/2-inch fiberglass insulation around cable. For plastic pipe, its recommended wrapping pipe with aluminum foil before cable installation. The traditional resistance cable produces a fixed amount of heat based on the electrical line feed. It comes with a built-in thermostat that switches the flow of electricity on and off based on temperature. This cable installs fast and easy. Each package contains grounded plug, built in thermostat and instructions. Cable has weather resistant PVC outer jacket and inner insulation and keeps water flowing down to 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

(More customer reviews)I have a 110-year-old house with a flat roof. It's a beautiful old row house in the city. The problem with a flat roof -- as everyone knows -- is a lack of drainage. In wintertime, the area around the downspout collects water during the day when the sun is out and the surface (at least) freezes when the sun goes down. That causes a back-up of water and leaking down the interior walls. NOT A GOOD THING!!! This "heater" cable keeps things just warm enough to keep the water flowing down the spout and out of the house. It has a thermostat control which means it only uses electricity when the temperature dips below a certain level.
