Easy Heat HCA 30-Foot by 1/2-Inch Cold Weather Valve and Pipe Heating Cable Application Tape

I have the electric tape on a copper plumbing fixture. It is installed in a way that is even more thorough than the instructions suggest. It still did not keep a valve from splitting, and the temperatures were not below 20 for more than a few hours. I may try to use the tape again when I rebuild the copper fixture, but I will be using much more of it, and reinforcing the electric tape with foam insulation.

Royal Sovereign ARP-1400BLS Classically Designed 13500 BTU Portable Air Conditioner Review

Royal Sovereign ARP-1400BLS Classically Designed 13500 BTU Portable Air Conditioner
Average Reviews:

I did not order this via amazon.com, I got it from another vendor who referred me to the manufacturer royal sovereign for service when the unit arrived with a defective hose.
I contacted the manufacturer and sent them the information they requested via fax. This took several tries but I finally got it through with a successful fax report.
Over a month went by and I did not receive the replacement hose, I tried to re-fax them and got rejected about 10 times in a row. My emails have not been returned.
I jury rigged the broken hose with a replacement dryer hose from the hardware store and the story continues. The unit itself will blow alot of cold air, but thats only when its working. It fills up with water far too often, and at one point I found the entire radiator unit completely caked in ice. To 'ice' the cake so to speak this thing is as loud as an 18 wheeler in your living room. You can hear it, annoyingly sometimes even feel it shudder, 2 rooms away. Finally I noticed an enormous hit on my electric bill as the unit is NOT energy star rated.
I would not recommend this to anyone, spend the 2 or 3 hundred extra and get a name brand unit - I am sure you will be happier.

Usually I don't post product reviews however I rely heavily on other peoples' opinion of a
product when i'm looking to make a purchase.
Yesterday I purchased this product from Walmart for several reasons.
Mainly because I have two 5000 BTU Haier air conditions purchased two
years ago that run year around and don't run up my electric bill nor trip
the breaker in my 120 year old house, also the packaging was impressive the box tells you everything, so i chose the 8000 btu because
the eer rating was 10.4 it covers up to 350 sf which is great and the price was less than $200. I also like that the vents rotate.
My bedroom was 95 degrees no kidding when we installed the a/c within
an hour it was down to 84 so I felt obligated to post to let others know
this a/c is a great buy for the price and will last thru many hot summers.

Briggs & Stratton 40248 7000-Watt PowerNow Dual Mode Air Cooled Home Standby Generator Review

Briggs and Stratton 40248 7000-Watt PowerNow Dual Mode Air Cooled Home Standby Generator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this generator in August of 2008. I live in an area (upstate NY) where we lose power frequently. The item arrived and was delivered to my back yard in perfect working order.
We recently had a very bad ice storm in the Northeast and we lost power for 3 days. The generator worked perfectly running my sump pump, hot water heater (gas, direct vent), furnace, fridge (2) and several lights. I had to run power cords from outside rather than use the NEMA power cord to a manual transfer switch I had installed before the generator was delivered (more on that later). I ran the house for 10-12 hours on the 2 20lb propane tanks before I needed to change them out, which was to me, excellent. The generator is very quiet, we could barely hear it in the house. I have it installed behind my garage facing downwind of the house.
Okay, the transfer switch issue. While the manual, Briggs & Stratton web site, Briggs & Stratton FAQ page does not specifically state this, you MUST purchase the B&S manual transfer switch PERIOD! The model number is Briggs & Stratton 71014 - PowerNow Generator Transfer Kit (10 Circuits). This is the only transfer switch that works with the GFCI breaker installed in the generator. I had 3 electricians (friends of mine) look at the gen-tran 30 amp transfer switch wiring that was installed in my house and it is NOT a switching neutral switch.
Confused? I was too until I got on the phone with a very nice B&S technician who told me to only use their switch. I was dissapointed as I then needed to shell out another $400.00 but now it's working fine. I did let B&S know that they should be specific about the fact that only their switch is compatible with these types of generators. It is because of this fact that I only rated it 4 stars.
All in all that one storm alone made this purchase worth every penny. It also kept the house in harmony (if you know what I mean).
I would heartly recommend this generator to anyone who is looking for a well built powerful and quiet standby generator. Just make sure you buy the 71014 - PowerNow Generator Transfer Kit from B&S

DeLonghi PAC C120 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner Review

Although heavy and probably larger than a window air conditioner, this unit is worth every penny. I have a home office with a server and a couple PCs in it and this unit keeps the room as cold as I want it! I have central air - but my office always seemed stuffy. Now the entire upstairs loft is as cool and comfortable as the rest of the house. The unit vents outside - and even with my sliding windows, the venting area is narrow and does not obstruct my view. It can also be vented directly through the wall, but that seemed a little extreme to me. It is probably as loud as a window unit and has a fan only mode and a de-humidifier mode. The temperature is set by degrees, not some dumb low-medium-high setting. It plugs into a normal household plug and could be moved to another area of the house with little trouble. I am thinking, if the power went out, this unit could be used with the generator, we would not cook like the last time we lost power in the summer.

With a cooling capacity of 12,000 BTUs, this portable air conditioner means any room of the house can stay comfortably cool in the summer months. The unit's durable indoor/outdoor castor wheels and built-in side carry handles make it simple to transport from the living room during the day to the bedroom at night, while its easy-to-use electronic controls and LCD display ensure effortless operation. Choose from an automatic fan function or three fan speeds, depending on the personal comfort level desired. It also provides a dehumidifying mode to help reduce excess moisture in the air and a fan-only mode for air circulation without cooling. Other highlights include quiet operation thanks to its high-efficiency compressor and components, an adjustable thermostat with a 24-hour programmable timer for energy savings, air filtration to promote cleaner indoor air, and dripless operation, which means no bucket to empty. A full-function LCD remote control comes included, as well as a window bracket and exhaust hose for easy installation with no tools required. The portable air conditioner measures approximately 18-1/5 by 14-3/5 by 30-2/5 inches.

EdgeStar Countertop Portable Dishwasher for 6 Place Settings - Silver Review

EdgeStar Countertop Portable Dishwasher for 6 Place Settings - Silver

Just recieved this and used it for a week, this item is a lifesaver. While it is a bit short for my plates (just lean them over) the dishes come out clean, it is not that noisy, and it fits perfectly under my cabinets. I will follow up on long term issues (if any) but first impressions are outstanding. The lack of the silly window in the front like most of these have, and the fact that it is larger than most on the market allows for a bit more "wiggle room" when loading, (especially if your plates are 12" and the unit is designed for 10.5" plates) and the worries about the window leaking are gone.

Countertop Portable Dishwasher with Digital Controls - White Review

Countertop Portable Dishwasher with Digital Controls - White

Countertop Portable Dishwasher with Digital Controls - White
I received this Koldfront Countertop Dishwasher on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010 so cannot attest to its durability, at this time. However, I am very impressed with it. I have included pictures with this dishwasher on this page.
Before I purchased this, I did a lot of research on countertop dishwashers. I read Consumer Reports info as well as customer reviews across the internet and on Amazon. When all is said and done, it appears that you either get a good working unit or a lemon, irregardless of the Make (although some are better than others, of course). So, I searched for a unit to fit into my countertop space. I found this unit. (The product info on this page states that it is 18 1/2 high. It is actually 17 1/4" high ---17 1/4" high, 22 1/2" wide, 18 1/2" deep. Not a problem for me as it does fit.) Be sure to check your available space or consider putting dishwasher on rolling cart. On another site, I read very good reviews of this unit. Amazon has the best price that I found.
As per the Seller: Compact Appliance -- 5 stars for prompt delivery and it came in good shape & packed very well.
My Findings:
You will not get a lot of dishes/pans in these countertop units. I cook in the morning & evening. That is 2 loads for me, which would not make 1 full load in a regular dishwasher. This does not bother me. The water use is 10-11 quarts per load. I really cannot hand wash dishes for that. Hopefully the pictures which I have posted will give an adequate idea of how much will fit in the unit. You will need to move things around to learn where your items will fit best. It does have some large holes in the basket for the dishes, etc. This allows for the water to get to the dishes better. With careful juggling, you can get the dishes in. See my picture with the gallon jar which I needed to tilt in order to get it into the unit. To ensure that it would not slip and dip into the nearby "hole," I slightly braced it next to the nearby measuring cup. While it does not completely dry the dishes, just a short while with the door open will finish off the drying cycle. I use the flatware basket in one load (with the flatware) so that I can fit the pots and pans in the next load minus the flatware basket. It has a rack for cups which folds up and away for allowing taller items. I have washed 4 full loads and all has come out sparkling clean. (I did place a rinse basket inside to help with that.) I have read that the tablets work very well in these units. Since those are set for full sized washers, I thought that would be overkill. To each his/her own. The shortest wash is 70 min. The longest is 2 hours and 5 min. While that is a long time, it is not bothersome to me. It is noisy. Once again, not a bother for me. I have run it through all of its cycles except the pre-soak. I am very satisfied with results!
Everything which I needed to get the washer up and running comes with it since I do not have old equipment. There is no window in this unit, which I read is better as some units (not Koldfront) leak around the window. It is rather plain looking but functional.
Be sure to let the program finish its cycle. There are frequent "pauses" (holds?) which may cause you to think it is finished. If there is water in the bottom, it has not completed its program. The enclosed booklet lists the times for each program. Follow those guidelines. The LED stops flashing when the program has completed.
I gave this 4 stars only because I have not had it that long.
Only time will demonstrate the durability or lack of this unit. I will try to remember to update this after a few months and after a year. Good shopping to you! NOVEMBER 20, 2010 UPDATE:
I have had this dishwasher for 3 months now and am very happy with it! Still doing the job right! At this point, it gets 5 stars! I have nothing new to add to the above. I will try to remember to update this around the 1 year mark.
FEBRUARY 4, 2011 UPDATE:
The dishwasher is 6 months old and I am still very satisfied with it. It's a definite 5 stars for me! I, also, have used it for washing my flower pots. They get really dirty, of course. I do pre-soak them in the sink and lightly wash off loose dirt, etc. If one needs extra scrubbing, I do that before putting them into the dishwasher. I like to use the dishwasher for the extra hot, hot water which my hands cannot stand. It sanitizes/sterilizes the pots for me. Remember that if your pots are plastic, you may get it warped by the hot water if the plastic is not strong enough. I have washed many pots, clay and plastic, and have had only one warp just a little. I also wash the plastic water saucers. I turn the hot water heater down a notch for those. To clean the dishwasher after washing flower pots, I just run a complete cycle with nothing but the extra hot, hot water and the dishwasher soap.
There are some items that I wash in the dishwasher, such as my Canning Lids, that will not stay in the flatware basket while the washing process is going on. I use a new, clean lingerie bag (nylon mesh that can be picked up at many stores, for holding your panyhose, knee his, etc) and put the items in the bag and stretch it out over the top of the load of dishes. Thus there is nothing loose to fall to the bottom of the dishwasher. Everything comes clean and sterile.

GenTran 301060 PowerStay 30 Amp Manual Transfer Switch
Average Reviews:

I installed this Manual Transfer Switch to power my homes critical circuits the correct way without risk of electrocuting the power company repair man. I like the way this unit is designed, it comes prewired with with the plenty of instructions that make sense if you take a little time to think them through. If you can't figure the instructions out, call a pro. Anyway, the switch has two load meters that are very helpful once you are powering your house through the transfer switch panel from your generator. The meters tell you how close you are to your generators limits. I found the installation straightforward and logical. I'm happy with the purchase. This can be a DIY if you understand what is going on in the circuit breaker panel, load/wire gauge code requirements, etc..

Rust-Oleum 7887830 Appliance Enamel 12-Ounce Spray, Stainless Review

Average Reviews:

There's not much information on this item to be found on this product page, so in the interest of those who may be interested, here's what this product does.
If your fridge is full of spots
Don't take a pen and join the dots
Just lightly sand off all loose rust
And wipe it clean (this is a must)
When it's nicely clean and dry
Give this great spray paint a try
Put a drop cloth on the ground
And cover everything around
Shake the tin to stir it up
It'll sound like balls in a tin cup
In one direction you should spray
Holding eight inches away
It really saves a lot of time
Because there is no need to prime
And if the spots are still in view
Wait a bit then spray coat two
But that's not all - Appliance Epoxy also comes in Almond, Biscuit, Black and Stainless Steel in the spray can version, each can covering between 15 to 18 square feet. It's also available in quart tins in White only, and in Touch-Up version (looks like a bottle of White-Out) in White and Almond.
It provides a hard, moisture resistant finish for indoor metal surfaces, including fridges, freezers, washing machines, dishwashers, cabinets and towel bars, among others, but is not designed for stoves or ovens or anywhere heat is a factor.
In a nutshell, this is a DIY product that can save you having to buy new appliances when your old ones start getting rust spots, or when you just want to change your color scheme.
Rust-Oleum makes high quality DIY paint products, with the best coverage and widest range of products available.
Hint: To prevent those rust spots in the first place, use clear car wax on your appliances at least once every four months or so, and the wax will form a moisture proof barrier to stop water from penetrating down to the metal.Amanda Richards, December 8, 2007

Guys and gals, keep telling yourself that no matter how grand or powerful you might feel the first time you zorch a buncha weeds or vaporize the noxious undergrowth from beneath your favorite stand of trees with your brand new "flamethrower"... errrr... I mean, "vapor torch"... THIS IS NOT A TOY!
That's what I keep telling myself, anyway. ;)
Instructions:
1. Read the instructions. Let me put that another way: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!
2. Open the valve on the propane tank.
3. Open the the adjustable needle valve a little bit. A very little bit will do. Really.
4. Use the included spark lighter to ignite the pilot light.
5. Point the wand in a safe direction and squeeze the squeeze valve.
6. Avoid the temptation to imagine that you're Zeus zapping a jet of thick, blue flame down on the bad vegetables.
:)
Seriously, I recommend this product, particularly if you have a couple of acres + property that needs weeding and clearing all the time. A real labor-saver.
Seriously, this products works. [Especially like the backpack setup.]

Luxe Bidet MB210 Fresh and Hot Water Spray Non-Electric Bidet Toilet Seat Attachment Review

Luxe Bidet MB210 Fresh and Hot Water Spray Non-Electric Bidet Toilet Seat Attachment
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We LOVE this product. My husband was leery at first, and concerned what company would think when they came over and used the commode, but he quickly got over that. Product was easy enough for me to install, only problems were old hardware in my apartment...nothing to do with bidet. The instructions were sparse but not really necessary for installation.
My only gripe is that we do not use the warm water option. It takes a minute or two of running the water in the faucet before it warms up for the bidet, so it is kind of time consuming and wasteful to use it and there is still an initial "shot" of cool water to get the warm water moving down the line. When we move into a home and have a larger bathroom I probably will not even bother installing the warm water line. It works now because my restroom is really small so you do not really notice the line running from the toilet to the cabinet under the sink.
My husband did say the other day he had to "go" at work and was disappointed that there was only paper to use. Many of our guests have expressed interest in purchasing one for their home as well. My five year old son has become a professional, let me tell you it has helped his hygiene a great deal.
Overall this is a great product. I got it for a reasonable price and cannot imagine life without it.

Sharp CV-P10MX 9,500-BTU Portable Air Conditioner, White Review

Sharp CV-P10MX 9,500-BTU Portable Air Conditioner, White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just purchased this Sharp CV-P10MX from Bed Bath and Beyond for [...]- 20% coupon + 8.25% tax - 5% bonus CASHBACK rebate for using my Discover card. Total net purchase price for me was about [...]. That's the best deal I could find and I didn't have to wait for shipping. I got the A/C unit today.
The unit is big. Look at the measurements carefully before purchasing. You need enough space right next to your window for this unit. Even though this is a portable unit with casters to move it around, the exhaust hose setup is more or less semi-permanent. Once installed it's not meant to be taken off very easily. So keep that in mind. Once you've installed it, you essentially can't use your window again to bring in fresh air--not without taking down the exhaust hose installation.
Don't get me wrong. I LIKE this portable unit quite a bit. I do solidly recommend purchasing this unit if you need a portable AC. For what it does, it does it well. The cooling performance is SOLID! Don't listen to other users with similar NON-Sharp units complaining about it not working or not bringing the temp down enough. They either have faulty units or didn't install the exhaust hose properly. These kind of AC units WORK and they work quite well for what they are designed to do. BUT there are shortcomings with these designs. For one, we have blinds AND curtains installed on our windows. With this portable AC installed on this set of windows, our blinds and curtains become essentially useless. Please keep that in mind. Also, it's a real pain to install the exhaust hosing contraption properly into your window frame and to make sure the insulation is properly insulated. It's not impossible but a real pain.
Another bad design about this particular SHARP unit is that there's no display on the AC unit itself. ONLY the remote has all the info/stats. So you can't tell what's going on with the unit just by looking at it. For example, you can't tell the current temp--or at least what the AC unit thinks is the current temp. You can only set the desired temp. on the remote unit. Additionally, you can't tell what setting the fan is currently running at just by looking at the unit. You have to go check your remote, and even then, you don't really know what the real fan speed is currently running at, only that you've set your remote to a certain setting. If you don't point the remote directly at the unit, it may show that you're running at high speed but really you're running at low or medium speed. It's a bad design pure and simple. The AC unit itself should have a display with all pertinent info AND it should have buttons to allow you to change the settings of the AC unit. As it stands, you can ONLY turn the unit on and off on the unit itself. Everything else is controlled by the remote. Make damn sure you don't lose your remote or else it essentially becomes useless to customization.
Another bad design is that the louvers ONLY automatically adjust UP and DOWN. For side to side adjustment, you have to MANUALLY adjust it by going to the unit itself and using your hands to adjust it. What this means is that you get auto action of up and down but not side to side. If your room is very small, it may suffice for just this up/down action, but if you have a bigger room, you're going to get frustrated with the lack of automatic side to side movement of the louvers. Again, bad design.
One of the biggest reason for getting the SHARP units is how quiet they are suppose to be in the lowest setting--supposedly 36 db--however that is just the sound of the fan operating by itself--meaning when the compressor isn't working to produce the actual COLD air. When the AC unit has kicked in with the compressor, the sound, even at the lowest setting, is not very quiet. It's definitely not something you can fall asleep to unless you get adjusted to the sound. Having said that, the Sharp will be the quietest of all the portable AC units out there. I've done ample research before purchasing this unit and this is by far the most quiet unit on the market today. So if you want the quietest machine, this is the unit to purchase but don't be fooled into thinking that it's truly quiet. It's NOT. It'll take some getting use to before one can go to sleep without ear plugs with this unit on. (I've been using ear plugs since my college dorm days to fall asleep so it doesn't bother me one bit but it will bother others initially I'm certain.)
All in all, I solidly like this unit and I believe it's one of the best out there. I am quite satisfied with this purchase. It will absolutely cool your room. If it doesn't, you've either installed it incorrectly or you have a faulty unit. If installed properly, it WILL work very well. But there are shortcomings--described above--to these portable AC units, by nature of their design, not isolated to SHARP units only. Realize these shortcomings before purchasing these kind of portable AC machines and you won't be very disappointed once you get it home and installed.
I know when the next heat wave comes this way, I'll be sitting happily in my bedroom surfing the net with a very "cool" smile and appreciating my Sharp CV-P10MX very much. :)
(I would give this machine 5 stars if they improved upon the user design. Otherwise very happy with the cooling performance of this Sharp CV-P10MX!)

The thermostat works great (bought three). It is quick to install and works on low-voltage and two wire line volt baseboard heaters. Only drawback is the loud click when the thermostat turns on or off but the sound is easy to get used to (so long as it is set to 15 minute intervals instead of 5). The unit is very slim and the faceplate is easy to remove from the wall mount for quick programming of a few side by side. The mounting (all electrical wires are hidden) is only the size of a light switch and would be easy to paint around.
Overall very satisfied and shipping was 1 1/2 weeks from US to Canada and well worth the wait.

Ironman 2 Person Infrared Sauna with Radiant Floor Heat Review

I ordered it when the price was $799, I was lucky, it fits very well at my gym room at home. The glass door is very heavy, my husband would not trust me to help, so it takes 2 men to lift, but assembling is not bad. Remember to turn on the electric switch box before you close up the sauna. You need to season before use, 1 hr with door open, 1 hr with door closed. I bring in a dry towel to cover the seat and 1 wet towel to moisture my dry skin, it takes me about 10 mins to sweat at 116 degree which I feel very similar to a big sauna room. I usually set it for 1 hr, go take a shower and then jump in the sauna until time is up. I feel so refreshed after using it. One down side is that there is no heater in the front, but I sit side way occupying the whole bench, so it kind of solved the problem by 50%. It would be nice if I can lay down, but I rather save money and space. A 2 perosn one is good.

3M AA00DC-6 Advanced Allergen Furnace Filter Review

3M AA00DC-6 Advanced Allergen Furnace Filter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My house uses forced air for heating. The disadvantage of such a system is that it distributes the dust in the air everywhere in the house. However, it is supposed to be possible to filter out the dust. Over the years, I have steadily increased the quality of the filter that I use for my forced air heating system. However, until now I have not noticed any obvious difference in my allergic reactions that seem to start with the heating season.
There are two cats in my house. I have read that cat dander, tiny flakes of cat skin shed by the cats, is five times smaller than household dust particles. It stays in the air much longer than ordinary dust before it settles. Because of its small size it requires a more efficient filter to get it out of the air.
Until this year, I have used of variety of filters with mixed results. However, this year, I started using the 3M Advanced Allergen Filters, the ones in the blue wrapper. These have a 3M Microparticle Performance Rating of 1500, but do not have a MERV rating listed. MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value and is a number from 1 to 12, produced from a test designed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). A higher MERV rating indicates better filter performance. 3M uses particle data between 0.3 and 1.0 micron size to calculate a Microparticle Performance Rating or MPR. The higher the MPR, the better the filter. However, higher rated filters cost more.
Here are some of the Filtrete filters offered by 3M:
Dust & Pollen Filter, Microparticle Performance Rating 600,
MERV rating of 8
Micro Allergen Filter, Microparticle Performance Rating 1000,
MERV rating of 11
Ultra Allergen Filter, Microparticle Performance Rating 1250,
MERV rating of 11
Advanced Allegen Filter, Microparticle Performance Rating 1500,
MERV rating not available
The difference made by the Advanced filter was immediately obvious. My running nose stopped running. I assume that the new Advanced filters must be taking out more of the dust in the air including the cat dander. I have not noticed a change in the speed of the circulated air. The additional cost of the Advanced filter is worth it if you have allergies or pets. However, if you are happy with a lower-rated and lower-cost filter, then you can continue using that one. I suggest that you check Amazon and vendors on the web to get the best price.

Haier CPN12XC9 12K Portable Air Conditioner Review

Haier CPN12XC9 12K Portable Air Conditioner

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this in June when I couldn't take the NYC heat anymore. My window unit broke at the end of last summer, and due the prohibitively expensive delivery/installation costs in NYC for a 4th floor walkup apartment with extra wide windows, I decided to get a portable standing A/C-- my first.
I'm sure a lot of the issues I'm pointing out here have to do with the fact that portable units are just not as efficient as window units, but this 12,000 BTU unit does not cool my apartment nearly as quickly as my mighty little 8,000 BTU window unit used to. The nice thing about the portable unit which is an advantage over my old window unit is that while I have it installed in my bedroom, I can blast just my bedroom only (8 ft x 14 ft) by shutting the door, or angle it to cool the living room only (20 ft x 22 ft), or to hit both rooms. The bedroom gets cool enough when I shut the door so that the unit is cooling my bedroom only (and the temperature reading on the unit can get down to 73 degrees); it is a challenge to completely cool the living room area on a really hot day, but that was an issue even when I had my window unit (also installed in my bedroom). When I do try to cool just the living room (essentially dragging the unit to the doorway of the bedroom and blasting it only into the living room), while the living room can sometimes cool down to a comfortable temperature, the bedroom then heats up because the PVC exhaust pipe leading from the unit to the bedroom window gets quite hot.
It is also very noisy. The first week, I could hardly fall asleep because of the noise. It is like sleeping near a generator. I guess I've gotten used to it by now, but I definitely think that it could have been designed better to be quieter. Also, even on low speed, it's just as loud as when it's on high speed.
Beware that all portable units will require some kind of exhaust pipe to be connected to the window so that the heat generated by the unit can escape. You only need a small window, however, much smaller than an A/C would need, so if you have a basement apartment with a small window, you'd probably still be able to accommodate this unit.
If you have a living situation that allows a window unit to be installed more easily and inexpensively, I would certainly recommend that. For those who cannot install window units for whatever reason, this portable unit is OK, but I wonder if there are more efficient, quieter units out there. Also, I sometimes wonder if I made the right decision to keep the unit because portable A/C's cost more than window units, and maybe I should have just sucked up the outrageous installation charges associated with a window unit which may have been a more efficient cooling system.
