Rheem 22VR40FN Ultra Low Nox NG Water Heater, 40 G HE Review

Rheem 22VR40FN Ultra Low Nox NG Water Heater, 40 G HE
Average Reviews:

Rheem customer service is terrible. I have a 50 gallon water heater that has started making a horrendous noise that resonates through the house immediately when the hot water is turned on. The warranty is 6 year parts no labor from Rheem. I have no problem with that. I called the plumbing company that originally installed it. They checked it out and could not determine the source of the problem. I called Rheem. The gentleman told me exactly what should have been checked and told me it could be only one of two things. I called my servicer. The company owner contacted Rheem to confirm what I was told. Another visit from repairman. He did everything Rheem told me and the company owner to do, to no avail. It is not sediment. It is inside the tank and the noise originates from the exact same place on the left side every time. I called Rheem back and told them it was still a problem and requested a new tank. I was told they would not replace it because I couldn't prove what was wrong to warrant the replacement. She now gave me another item that should be checked. She also told me to call my gas company and have the gas checked, except the burner doesn't even kick on and the noise is happening. This is the third service call, and mind you, they don't cover any labor. I think I have been more than patient and they, who manufactured the item, can't tell me what is wrong, but they expect me to tell them what is wrong for them to replace it. The woman basically tried to brush me off. She told me there is no reason it should be making that noise. I think I already knew that. I would never buy a Rheem again. I agree that I had a responsibility to try to have it repaired first, but I think I have more than fulfilled my part of the deal. I can't say all Rheem products are a problem, but their customer service is horrible if you do have a problem.

42" Aluminum Anode Rod w/Dielectric nipple Review

42 Aluminum Anode Rod w/Dielectric nipple

I've been replacing the anode rod every two years.
My tank is 28 years old now, and still no leaks. I did have to replace the thermocouple about 12 years ago, and the pressure relief valve about 2 years ago, they have nothing to do with the anode rod, and the tank probably would have rusted out before these quit if I hadn't replaced the anode rod. Sure beats replacing the tank! I think I have saved a lot of money this way. Even if I only had to replace the tank every ten years, it still would have cost much more.

When this item is combined with the tank and filter it is a very pricey item. The filter only filters out chlorine so is not needed if you don't have chlorine in your water. Perhaps a good plumber could plumb the filter out of the system. Also, the filters are expensive...$76+ for a two pack and you have to order them in most cases. I am having a problem with mine after two years...it's starting to not dispense water for up to 30 seconds after not being used for a few days. InSinkErator customer service has not as yet come up with a reason for this that fits my situation. Scheduling a warranty service through them is a hassle...they keep telling me what they think the problem is and I keep saying no it isn't, please schedule and that has yet to happen from there end. But I do love the unit when it works correctly.
The problem has been solved. It's the cheap plastic tank. The tank failed and leaked water which degraded the plastic and other parts. The water reacted with the plastic and was responsible for the taste, smell, etc. I have now disconnected two of them and will not replace them. Be aware that InSinkerator knows exactly what the problem is even though they deny it. The problems started wen they switched to the plastic tanks. Now they have a 'new' tank...stainless steel. I am sure there will be no problems with that but it's very expensive. I won't have another of their products based on their customer service and misleading.

The Water Alarm also has a 6-foot sensor wire, so that you can extend the sensor into a sump pump, or the alarm will sound before water spills out onto the floor. The alarm plugs into the wall plus has a 9 Volt battery backup. We use ours for the sump pump & it works wonderfully!
When the alarm goes off...we pull up on the sump pump floater string & the sump pump starts right away and the alarm turns off right away.
The alarm is loud. Our house is a ranch style, a bit over 1,100 sq ft...the sump pump is in the basement...opposite corner than our bedrooms on the main floor...I could still hear the alarm going off in the middle of the night.
This item works as it says it will, I'd purchase this item again. We purchased our's at a major hardware store in our area for about $10

Water damage is one of the main ways that the value of a home can be diminished.Accidents will happen!Water heaters break down and water pours out, washing machines overflow, pipes wear thin and leak - and when these things happen, water will start to destroy your home.Perhaps the most dangerous aspect of water damage is that it can occur with almost no sound - you may not know you have a leak until your basement is flooded! Now, you can minimize the risk of water damage with this Water Alarm. The Water Alarm requires only a 9-volt battery (battery not included), and when placed on the floor it can detect water that is only 1/32"deep!This is thanks to solid state circuitry which is highly reliable. The Water Alarm also has a 6-foot sensor wire, so that you can extend it into a sump pump, or simply mount it on a wall to stretch it to another location.Plus, up to an additional 200 feet of wire can easily be spliced in to provide extra length. When the Water Alarm detects water it emits a loud 110 decibel alarm (as loud as most car horns)! And don't worry that you will miss this alarm if you are out of the house when water is first detected - the Water Alarm will sound continuously for 2-3 days (depending on existing battery life).Consider one for the basement, one for the kitchen, the bathroom, or anywhere that water may become a hazard.Keep your home safe and secure with the Water Alarm. Assembly level/degree of difficulty: No Assembly Required.

Nice product and once I worked out the wiring and circuit breaker needs it seems to work very well. I hooked it up to the current hoy water heater wiring and fuse only to find it needs a 60 amp fuse and 6 gage wiring from fuse block to heater..This was not too expensive because my heater is only a few feet from the fuse box the wire is $2 per foot and a new fuse was $8 so it added $50 to my bill and an hour running the wire through the crawl space. It does appear to work as promised, nice hot water instantly after connected.

NO TANK - SPACE SAVERNO LIMITNO WAITINGSAVE UP TO 60% ON WATER HEATING COSTS!One way to SAVE on domestic hot water bills is to use A DEMAND TYPE WATER HEATER. A conventional hot water system heats water in a tank to a specified temperature. As heat is lost from the tank, the water is reheated until it reaches the specified temperature again. For most of the day the water in the tank is not used, but it loses heat continually. DEMAND WATER HEATERS Eliminate this problem by heating water only as hot water is drawn. Facts: The average tank hot water Heater will supply only enough hot water for one or two showers before running out of hot water! Not with Titan Electronic Tankless Water Heater! IT IS EASY TO SEE WHY CONVENTIONAL WATER HEATERS ARE NO LONGER ECONOMICAL OR PRACTICAL... They consume electricity to heat water that is not being used, a process that repeats itself over and over even though no hot water is needed. The "TITAN Electronic Instant Water Heater" provides hot water ONLY when you need it, without the costly reheating process. An electronic component monitors the temperature of the water at different flow rates and maintains a pre-set temperature, allowing the use of conventional or single handle faucets.Professional Installation is highly recommended.

This service kit is complete, well instructed, and very easy to install. I am sure it saved over $150 compared to a service call. If your gas hot water heater is less than 10 years old and you find that the pilot light will not stay lit, it is most likely the High Temperature Cutoff Switch that has gone bad. Clearwave Electronic Water Softener System Review

Clearwave Electronic Water Softener System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We've had one of these water softeners at our house for 10 years. We've recommended them to family and friends, and installed them in other peoples' houses, and everyone has been amazed that they not only work, but work SO WELL!
We bought one for our son for his brand-new house, which had very hard water, and iron pipes. When the water-softener salesman came around the neighborhood and tested everyone's water (planning on big sales), he couldn't figure out why the results were so bizarre at this house. He was finally clued in, and said maybe he should start selling Clear Wave softeners!
Things we noticed right away: a significant reduction in the amount of detergent we used for launday; showerheads didn't get clogged as fast; water-spotting on tiles was easier to clean off; skin was less irritated.
"Installing" this unit consists of wrapping wire around the pipe that comes into the house, and plugging it into an electrical outlet. Ours has been chugging along for 10 years with no issues. It doesn't make any noise, it doesn't need to be "fed" or fixed. It just quietly does what it was designed to do 24/7. No chemicals or salts have to be added to the water, and this unit costs about as much as a light bulb to operate.
I was delighted to find this on Amazon, because I want to buy another one for someone who just moved into a home with old pipes and hard water. I KNOW it will help!

Use less soap, and remove scale from your pipes - continuously, automatically and for only about $5 in electricity a year. Clearwave is the most advanced computerized anti-scale device available today. Its computer chip is programmed to bombard water passing through your pipe with over 200 different electromagnetic low frequency pulses. These electromagnetic pulses have been scientifically proven to increase the electromotive attraction potential of the water to mineral salts. The result is that the mineral salts (mainly calcium bicarbonate) stays dissolved in the water instead of converting to insoluble calcium carbonate and attaching itself to the inside of pipes as scale. Existing scale in pipes, water heaters, toilets and faucets begin to soften and dissolve away. Recommended for dishwashers, washing machines, coffee makers, and boilers.Clearwave can even replace base exchange softening systems and the associated maintenance costs.Installation of the Clearwave is simple. Mount to the main incoming water pipe to the home with pipe clips, wrap the antenna leads around pipe and then plug into a 110V power supply. One unit handles incoming supply pipes up to 1" in diameter. For pipes 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" use two units in series. Works with all types of pipe including: copper, pvc, galvanized, and stainless steel. Manufacturer's part number CW-1.

Fahrenheat Electric 5120 BTU Baseboard Heater, Model# FBE15002 Review

Fahrenheat Electric 5120 BTU Baseboard Heater, Model# FBE15002
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The heater I got is made in the USA. Hope they continue to make them here onshore, but gladly, mine doesn't have the toxic fumigants embedded in the paint (and other parts) that other heaters have from the shipping container fumigants they apply to the shipping container interiors when they ship from China (to prevent mold and mildew, and insects in the containers, which are sometimes enclosed for months.) Heat really activates these chemical toxins, embedded in the materials. Those toxic vapors take a while to gas-off of a new heater, and I have enough health problems and headaches without them.
I gassed this unit off at 1500W outside for a few hours and used it at 1000 watts indoors without any problems, and I have severe multiple chemical sensitivity.
The heating element in this portable heater is the same size as a 1000-Watt stationary baseboard. On the 1000-WATT setting (low) it gives a steady nice heat and doesn't get the chassis extremely hot on the outside - probably because of the angle at which the heater stands, which maximizes airflow convection. The housing doesn't even get as hot as a 1000-WATT stationary baseboard, which sits vertically against a wall, not at an angle, like this one does.
The "enamel" paint on all heaters is not really a traditional mineral enamel coating, but a modern polyester imitation, sometimes called "powder coat." It is like when they call eating utensils "silverware" which is mostly stainless steel. Heat this "enamel" paint with a torch and it wont blister or crack, it will melt.
This Marley (aka Q-Mark, farenheat) heater has a good price for a good basic product.
The location of the thermostat is much better the location of the thermostat on a radiator-type stand-up oil-filled heater, all of which are now made offshore as far as I have seen in stores (and therefore very toxic anyway, please let me know if there are still any made in USA.)
In element heaters, there is very little heat at the ends of the element. The heat gradually increases to the middle of the element. The thermostat is at the end. That means element heaters are less likely to effect the control of the thermostat relative to the ambient temperature in the room, which will have more effect on the thermostat than it will with a hydronic (oil-filled) heater, especially radiator-types. That makes the element heater far better for heat control and moderation.

Rheem RTG-74DVP Direct Vent Liquid Propane Tankless Water Heater for 2-3 Bathroom Homes
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A thoroughly disreputable company. Warranty is worthless. If your Rheem water heater has a 6 year warranty and fails after 3.5 years (as ours did), you may find them using all kinds of questionable tactics to escape responsibility.
On three separate calls to three agents they insisted our heater was 7 years old. They had clearly been trained to say this, the patter was so automatic. When challenged with their own web-site's data, which stated (correctly) that the heater was still under warranty, they did not know what to say and hung up! The house had been built only 3.5 years earlier! And indeed, the heater's body was date-stamped 3.5 years ago. What was going on here? Either Rheem was lying, or the plumber or the plumber's merchant had supplied old product, falsely relabeled. Of course the plumber and his merchant denied that. Finally after a lot of photos, heated phone calls, and intervention by the plumber's merchant in escalating to Rheem management, we discovered the procedure for making a claim.
Rheem's claims are handled by a third party agency, ESIS Risk Management. We supplied photos of the leaking rusty tank and the flooding in the cellar and adjacent room that it had caused. ESIS are apparently tarred with the same dirty brush as Rheem. Despite the overwhelming evidence, ESIS' Susan Fritts insisted there was no proof of defect and that a report was required from a `forensic plumber.' Oh yeah, like we had sabotaged our own heater and voluntarily lived without hot water for two weeks?? The forensic exam could cost $1000 and would not be reimbursed even if Rheem were found to be at fault!! Outrageous! That's more than the cost of a new heater! ESIS and Rheem had created an impossible obstacle.
So we were stuck with buying a new heater. Now these things are built like tanks (ha!). They should not fail after 3. 5 years, sitting untouched in a basement. It makes you wonder if Rheem is supplying old refurbs that are falsely relabeled with a new manufacturing date. And then wriggling like crazy to escape any liability. CAVEAT EMPTOR!

I like this water heater quite a bit. This is a huge money saver if you only use hot water a few times a day. If you have people taking showers all day long, it is probably less so.
I researched these heaters on-line and found some people were pretty negative about them while other people were positive. I figured I would address the biggest complaints.
Complaint: It takes a while to get hot water.
Response: This is probably the biggest downside. It does take a bit longer to get hot water... this is less noticeable the longer it took to get hot water in the first place, however. If your point of use is far from your old tank, the extra delay is hardly noticeable.
Complaint: If you shut off the hot water and start it again you will get a burst of cold water.
Response: I've never observed this phenomenon. The hot water heater will shut off, and about bit of water must pass through it before it turns on again, but the thing is, the heat exchanger is still hot. So you are not going to get a burst of cold water in between uses of hot water, unless you've had the water off for a long time... in which case the water in your pipes is going to be cold as well.
Complaint: Not enough volume
Response: I've had no problem with volume of hot water with this model and the shower or dishwasher or any other appliance. I have it turned up all the way for the dishwasher, so this is the most restrictive setting. At any lower setting, or elsewhere in the US where the ground water isn't as cold as it is here, will have more water. They make a bigger model if you need to run two showers at once. That is not an issue for me.
Over all I'm very happy with this unit. The quality is excellent. The kit was complete. I've had no trouble with it. Installation is easy if you have basic plumbing skills. The hardest part - by far - of the installation is the venting. The exhaust gas is high temp, so you have to watch how close you get to combustible materials. This is a very good choice for anyone with an electric water heater, or someone who has a gas water heater that needs to be replaced.

I have had my washer and dryer set for only a month and although I know that isn't very long to test out an appliance that should work well for years to come I've already run into some issues. This is my first washer and dryer purchase and I have only used top loaders before so let me say this is all a new experience for me. I did my research and knew there was issues with all front loading washer with mildew so to make sure the door was left open and the detergent drawer out when not in use. Well knowing that, I always do when I am not continuously using it. The detergent drawer is always wet and often has a puddle of water- in which I have to remove the whole thing and go into my kitchen to empty the water out. There is always a little bit of water in the gray seal which now I keep a towel close by to stick in there and mop it up. I have not seen any different in my clothes getting cleaner and in fact am a little frustrated since I can't clean my clothes quite the same way I did with the top loaders. The one time I did use bleach, I must say was easier than with a top loader and far better results. I was skeptical and let's say even scared since I couldn't manually mix the bleach in with the soapy water but there is a little line that tells you how much bleach you should use (which was less than I normally do# and my the clothes with some slight coloring did not discolor and all the white was whiter. I was so happy with that, I just wish I could do bleach in all my loads. I don't really notice a difference in noise or energy savings since I often have to do an extra rinse cycle #esp with sheets, blankets, towels) to get enough water out to put it in the dryer. Also in the seal where the water gets built up- so do socks especially little childrens socks and they are just soaking wet in this puddle of water- it's absolutely disgusting to fish out. Blah.

Great switch. If your line loses too much pressure, pump shuts off automatically. Otherwise with a broken pipe a pump could empty your water tank, then burn out your water pump. I've used this switch before. It is well built with the a lot bang for the buck.
