PLEASE READ:There is no industry standard for Unions. The various brands have their own unique style, which means you must use the unions provided with our spa pump. This will most likely involve cutting off your old unions and installing the new ones shipped with the spa pump.If your heater is directly coupled to the spa wet end, then our pump will probably not work as the union will most likely be different. Be sure to look at the motor voltage, not the voltage supplied to the spa to determine the correct pump voltage.When removing power cord from existing pump we recommend you mark your wires for "common", "High speed", "low speed".The pump does not come with a power cord. The connection diagram for the new pump is located on the motor name plate.The wet ends can be rotated by simply loosening the motor thru bolts and turning the pump head, allowing the discharge to point to 3 O'clock, 9 O'clock or 6 O'clock.Not Self Priming - Water must be above pump head in order to operate properly. 1.5" refers to the size of your PVC plumbing supply lines. It has nothing to do with the size of the union nuts, the size of the threads on the wet end or the inside diamater of the inlet/outlet. The PVC pipe slides into the union and is glued with PVC cement. 1.5" plumbing means you have 1.5" schedule 40 PVC supply lines (1.5" I.D.; 1 7/8" O.D. on the line)circumference = 6.5" (wrap a tape measure around the pipe). (More customer reviews)These hot water heaters work GREAT -- while they work! They make plenty of hot water and save money month-to-month over the standard hot water heater because they make only the hot water that you use and don't keep re-heating a tank full of hot water. The PA-28 unit here made enough hot water for a household with six children including bath/shower water, dishwasher and washing machine. PLUS, we heated the house with the hot water through plastic pipes in the floor. Never once, while it was working, did we want for hot water.
HOWEVER, they don't last very long. Since 2001, when we had the first one installed, we've had to replace the unit twice. Now, Nov 2010, the one we have has failed and needs to be replaced again! The first two times the housing surrounding the heating elements cracked, causing leaking and water damage (not covered by Seisco). This time, the electronics board seems to have gone bad.
I'M NOT SAVING ANY MONEY ANY MORE. Since the original warranty is long gone, I'm stuck having to replace the unit every 2 to 3 years. Not good.
My experience anyway....

(More customer reviews)We actually called and spoke with the company before purchasing this unit in order to verify that it would work for our set up. We felt that we had asked the correct questions and initially felt comfortable with the purchase. Unfortunately, the one question we didn't think we needed to ask has turned out to be the most crucial. THERE IS NO WAY TO WIRE A THERMOSTAT TO THIS UNIT. Without a thermostat to control when and how much to heat the home this unit is grossly time (since you have to manually turn it on whenever you want heat) and energy inefficient. We've also had problems with inconsistent hot water availability; the shower often goes from scalding hot to luke warm and back again. The installation directions are poorly and incorrectly written, including giving plumbing diagrams for an entirely different unit. Customer service is questionable and the engineer we, and our electrician, have spoken with has left us with more questions than answers. We fully regret not purchasing the more expensive combi unit from an established company with a proven track record in the US.

(More customer reviews)The valve received was not the one ordered (and not the one shown above) The one above is a soldered version and I received the threaded version which I recall as being significantly less expensive. The soldered version would not have required any plumbing changes, but as I was having difficulty getting sufficient hot water for bathing, so I reluctantly made the changes and installed. Considering the price of the part, I would think that the right one could have been shipped. Seriously doubt that I would use this service again.

(More customer reviews)I am by no means a professional plumber, but I do not hesitate to at least try to tackle my own home repairs first. I had to replace a cheap water heater that was put in by the contractor that built the subdivision, a fairly simple job. However, the cold-water shut-off valve was very close to the water heater and required that it had to be cut off to get the new water heater in. Not anticipating this, I did not have my blowtorch handy to solder in a new valve and I could not find it to save my life.
Being too cheap to by a new blowtorch kit when I know I have a perfectly good one at home, I asked my local home improvement store what I could use that would not require soldering. The gentleman introduced me to the SharkBite fitted valve.
The employee demonstrated how it worked for me in the store. To engage the fitting to the copper pipe (or other materials from my understanding), simply make sure the pipe is relatively burr free and press the fitting on until it stops. Repeat with the opposite side and viola the job is done.
When the product was demonstrated in the store, I was less than impressed. The valve seemed loose and rotated freely, but the employee was a plumber by trade and said they were great so I thought I would give it a try. I cut the pipes to length and inserted the valve. The first attempt leaked, but thankfully I had bought the removal tool. I removed the pipe on the leaky side, cleaned it again, and tried once more. With the second attempt, the connection was leak free.
Once connected, the valve rotates freely and prior to being stabilized with piping, feels a bit sloppy. To my surprise, the fitting held tight and once the pipes were clean, it worked great.
If you are scared to solder, the repair is in an area where the heat from a blowtorch could cause some damage, or need a quick fix and you do not have all the proper tools, this is an excellent choice. I would highly recommend purchasing a SharkBite Demount Disconnect clip as well, incase the fitting needs to be removed or a correction needs to be made. The clips are size specific and cheap, and could very well save a trip to the hardware store or another Amazon order.

(More customer reviews)I am a general contractor and have used an on-demand tankless water heater in my 3200 square foot home since I built it in 1984, when few people in the US had tankless water heaters. That first LP heater served my family well, but it required a pilot light that was always on and it used a rubber diaphragm to turn the heater on. The diaphragm had to be replaced every three or four years. That heater was made in the UK and getting repair parts and someone who could do the repairs was problematic. About three years ago, I replaced it with a Takagi T-K Jr-LP Liquid Propane Flash Liquid Propane Compact Tan. It uses a different sensing method and it ignites using an electronic starter. Installation was fairly simple for me, so I did the ventilation, plumbing, and electrical work myself. The only complication was the addition of a 115 VAC outlet to the heater closet because the Takagi T-K Jr LP requires an electrical hookup to power its computerized controller. The heater also must be properly vented to outside air, so, to meet building code where I live, I also had to buy and install a stainless steel vent through the roof. The venting materials can cost almost as much as the heater depending on where the heater is installed. NOTE: More than likely, you should hire a licensed contractor to do the installation to ensure that the job is done correctly (according to code requirements where it is to be used) and for safety. The Takagi T-K Jr was definitely a very good buy and I have confidently recommended it to my friends and will continue to do so.

After a little research found this model was the replacement and did the install in about an hour or so. Obligatory warning: You need some special tools and knowledge to install these properly, specifically to adjust the gas flow. If you haven't done this before, find someone who has or hire a professional.
Shipping was fast and product as advertised.

Upon my return it had failed miserably and is now in a large block of ice. The Western NY weather being what it is I will have to wait until spring to get it out...I have contacted Amazon about the return, we'll see how that goes. Also I contacted the company and they had a very curt reply about returning it to Amazon, not them. Be wary of this product and keep in mind, if it fails the ice can damage your garden,pond,trough,etc. I gave it a two because it actuall worked for a week or so.

(More customer reviews)My water heater starts having problem a little bit after one year. Even though it is still under warranty, the customer services are terribly bad. They keep on giving me a hard time and asked me to do different tasks like cleaning, testing, ... The "regular" maintenance is impossible to be done by a regular household without specific knowledge of water heater. It is a pain to due with those customer services. They're really well trained to giving customers a hard time to claim anything under warranty. I surrender! I'll not consider this brand again in my life.

cleaned and a new anode rod screwed in every six months - I am finally breaking down a buying a wet/vac to make the job much easier. That being said, it is perfect for my condo that has never had proper hot water to the kitchen (in 20 years time). As my condo hot water heater is common to the entire wing, I made sure when purchasing this 4 gallon water heater that I could plumb the "hot" water into the "cold" intake of the water heater, and thus boost my "hot" water coming into my kitchen to a proper temperature for my sink, dishwasher, and front-load washer. To me it is so very well worth cleaning and servicing the unit every six months to have the luxury or proper hot water in my kitchen, and to know that when the condo hot water is on the fritz, I have hot water for my sink and appliances anyway. Since this unit has a convenient on/off switch on the front, I simply turn the unit off when I leave for the day, and turn it on when I want.
